چکیده
In the previous critique, Saville Kushner has offered a very thoughtful and provocative commentary on our statement about the merits of mixed-method approaches to contemporary program and policy evaluation, published in Volume 7, Issue 1 of Evaluation. I am very honored that Saville took our work seriously enough to read it as carefully as he did. I am also pleased that his commentary so richly invites further conversation. This response is offered in the spirit of continuing conversation. My response has three main parts. First, I agree with most of what Kushner said in his commentary, and I would like to underscore several of the critical strands of the evaluation ideology that I believe we indeed mostly share. Second, despite our common evaluation perspectives and allegiances, Kushner seems to disagree with me and my co-authors about the merits of mixing methods or of adopting a mixed-method approach to evaluation. Kushner offers compelling reasons not to mix, as well as cautions about both the politics and conceptual rationales for mixing. Resisting the temptation to respond to each of Kushner’s elegantly argued points, I will focus on two key themes of disagreement, as I understand them. And finally, I will briefly re-state my own position, re-framing it with the particular discourse of this conversation.

Measurement and Comparison of Soil Splash Rates under the Influence of Acidity and Rain Intensity
Nowadays, acid rain serves as one of the most serious environmental problems has affected many regions in the world. This phenomenon is characterized by many environmental impacts, such as soil contamination and degradation. Acid rain immediately affects soil, causing soil particles to breakdown and be dispersed; this is the first step to initiate the soil erosion. Therefore, in this study, the...
متن کاملApplication of Polyacrylamide for Splash Erosion Control on Marl Soil
Splash erosion is recognized as the first stage in the process of erosion that results in bombardment of the soil's surface with rain drops. Two basic processes in soil erosion are the dispersement of soil particles by rain drops and the changes caused to the soil's structure, which are then moved by runoff. In this research, the effect of various polyacrylamide (PAM)values (0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6 ...

متن کاملEffect of soil structure breakdown on splash erosion in different soil textures
This study was carried out to investigate the role of soil structure in splash erosion in semi-arid soils. Splash erosion was measured in four soil textures (silty clay loam, sandy clay loam, silt loam and sandy loam) with two soil structure conditions (with natural structure and under aggregate breakdown) using a simulated rainfall with 50 mmh-1 in intensity for 30 min in splash caps with 10-c...
